Are you troubled about the maintenance of your wallpaper? From children’s graffiti t,yellowing from sunlight, there are many causes of wallpaper stains. In this article, I’ll show you how to take care of your wallpaper, recommended cleaning products, and how to choose stain-resistant wallpaper!

Case 1: Children’s graffiti, hand stains, coffee stains

Vinyl cloth:〇

Depending on the type of stain, vinyl cloth can be wiped with water, because it is coated with a vinyl film.
However, it will be difficult to completely remove stains such as water-based pens.

Paper wallpaper, natural wallpaper:×

Wallpaper made from pure pulp or natural fibers is very delicate.
If you wipe it with water or scrub it with a sponge, the surface may become ragged.
It would be better to think that it is difficult to clean the stains.

Fleece wallpaper:◎

Our fleece wallpaper is coated with water-based paint, which results in a hard coating film on the surface.
Therefore, wiping with water is of course possible. For stubborn stains, try wiping with a melamine sponge available at Daiso or diluted neutral detergent.
However, it is important to quickly wipe off coffee, ink, etc. before they sink into the wallpaper.
Also, stains that cannot be removed, such as sign pens, can be hidden by painting over them with water-based paint.

*Please note that stains from oil-based pens may float to the surface even after painting over them.

Case 2: Yellowing of wallpaper

Vinyl cloth:△

Plasticizers are used in vinyl cloth, which turns yellow when exposed to ultraviolet rays.
It is not possible to remove this yellowing, so we recommend that you replace the wallpaper.
For tobacco stains, try neutral detergent or tobacco stain remover.

Paper wallpaper, natural wallpaper:△

Wallpaper made of natural materials does not contain plasticizers, so there will be less worry about yellowing due to ultraviolet rays. However, it cannot be wiped clean, so it may be difficult to clean stains from cigarettes and other tobacco products.

Fleece wallpaper:〇

Our fleece wallpaper also does not contain plasticizers, so there is less concern about yellowing due to UV rays. For tobacco stains, please try neutral detergent or melamine sponge.

Case 3: Dust stains

Vinyl cloth:△

Vinyl cloth is a wallpaper that is prone to static electricity and dust stains. This dust is the cause of dark spots near appliances and ventilation openings. The best way to clean it is to wipe it off with a dustpan or soft fabric.

Paper wallpaper, natural wallpaper:〇

Pulp and natural fibers do not generate static electricity, so they are less likely to attract dust and dirt. If there are any areas that bother you, gently wipe them dry with a soft cloth.

Fleece wallpaper:〇

Our fleece wallpaper is also made of a material that does not generate static electricity, so it is difficult for dust stains to stick to it. If you are concerned about the surface, wipe it dry with a handy wiper or soft cloth.

Recommended cleaning products!

For persistent stains, I recommend a melamine sponge. If you rub the dirt with a little water, it will remove the dirt like an eraser. They are often available at 60 baht stores such as Daiso. Please check them out!

Fleece wallpaper is recommended to prevent stains from sticking to the surface.

Nagai’s “eterno” fleece wallpaper series is made of pulp-based fleece (non-woven fabric) coated with a water-based paint.
Because no plasticizers are used and no static electricity is generated, this wallpaper is resistant to yellowing and dust stains.
In addition, the water-based paint film is so strong that it can be wiped with water or neutral detergent and sponge.
When it is badly soiled, it can be repainted with water-based paint, so there is no need to replace it.

It is also highly durable and resistant to moisture, which helps prevent peeling, cracking, and mildewing of the wallpaper.

As for vinyl cloth, after a few years, the vinyl becomes hard and the joints start to open up. This is also due to the fact that the plasticizer, which is responsible for softening the vinyl chloride, is released into the air. Nagai’s “eterno” fleece wallpaper series does not use plasticizers, so there is no need to worry about the joints opening up.

If you are going to choose a wallpaper, we recommend the “eterno” series of fleece wallpaper, which is resistant to stains and deterioration and easy to maintain!
